Vision

On the trail of an admirable vision relaying on the power and infrastructure of technology. Striking for "Leading Edge", setting standards of excellence yet focused on adding quality to human life; We expand the reach of technology and information through innovation and invention.

Mission

To dedicate ourselves to strive and impart in-depth knowledge of Civil Engineering and prepare the students to meet the challenges of growing construction activity with confidence and competence.

Four year B.Tech course in Civil Engineering was started in the institution during the academic year 2007-08 The department is guided by a well experienced professor as Head with over 20 years of experience in various capacities in academics as well in industry As there was a lot of infrastructure development within the state as well as whole country, competition to join in Civil Engineering course has become attractive choice for the candidates.

Construction has picked up enormously in the recent times, globally. In the national context, it stands next to Agricultural in terms of country’s economy and large scale employment potential. The future of the country therefore essentially lies in identifying such sectors as construction industry, developing them and gaining benefit out of them. In the present scenario there is acute shortage of well trained Civil engineers to cater to the needs of construction industry and there by the role of Civil Engineering in the field of technical education is gaining importance. The quality of education plays a vital role to meet the requirements of the industry. CBTV is one such institution which strives to impart quality education and is located in the city of Hyderabad, the capital of the Andhra Pradesh state.ontinue and increase in the days ahead so that we can achieve our objective and goal.

From HOD's Desk

Hello! Thank you for visiting the department of civil engineering. The place where you live or work, the water you drink, the transport infrastructure you travel on, - the work of civil engineers literally surrounds us all. Somebody has to build the national and international infrastructure, and that somebody is us and may be you also if you join us.

Soon you will be making decisions for your career. We can't make these decisions for you, but we can offer guidance, information and the opportunity for you to become a professionally qualified civil engineer.

First let me answer your basic questions like

What is civil engineering?
Why civil engineering?
What are the requirements of a civil engineer?
What are employability options for a civil engineer?
What is Civil Engineering?

Civil engineers build our quality of life which is one of the world's most important jobs. Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline and core branch that deals with the analysis, design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as buildings, bridges, roads, dams, canals etc.,

It is traditionally broken into several sub-disciplines including structural engineering dealing with analysis and design of structures, geotechnical engineering dealing with analysis and design of foundations for various structures and soil related problems, water resources engineering dealing with analysis of water potential, design of hydraulic structures and allocation of water for various sectoral uses, environmental engineering dealing with water treatment for safe water supply to urban and rural areas and waste water treatment for preventing pollution hazards, transportation engineering dealing with analysis and design of roads , railways, airports and harbors, surveying dealing with mapping and setting out works and construction engineering dealing with construction materials, construction and maintenance of various structures.

In addition, use of computers for analysis, design and construction, use of new technologies like remote sensing, intelligent buildings, intelligent transport system and green buildings, use of managerial skills for managing the resources and structures, use of communication skills for better understanding with people and need for environment consciousness in the design for environmental sustainability have all become part of civil engineering.

Why civil engineering?

Today, civilization relies more than ever on teams of inventive people to design, build and maintain the sophisticated environment that surrounds us. People who find they are drawn to civil engineering as a career look to find challenge, self-expression, achievement and personal reward through their work. If you would like to combine your technical knowledge and creative flair to solve problems, civil engineering is an excellent career choice. How many jobs affect how our environment looks and works? For many civil engineers, it is the way they can change our surroundings and improve the lives of millions of people that draws them to the profession. They see whole projects through each stage from feasibility to design and implementation. They are needed for disaster management after natural calamities like earthquakes, droughts and floods and at times of war, to help the local population rebuild or maintain the conditions that will keep them alive.

Requirements of a Civil Engineer
Today's civil engineer should possess in depth civil engineering skills for analysis, design, construction and maintenance of various structures, computer, managerial and communication skills for better management of various structures and resources and environment conscious skills for better environmental sustainability. He should be also trained to understand and solve real world problems in civil engineering.

Employability options for civil engineering students from Chilkur Balaji Institute of Technology.

There are many career paths for civil engineers .Civil engineers can work in Government departments (ranging from municipality, corporation, state and central governments and Defense), public sector undertakings like SAIL, NTPC, NHPC, BHEL etc. and various private sector organizations.(contracting and consulting firms).

Other areas in which civil engineers work include entrepreneurship, teaching, research and development .For teaching and research, one has to acquire additional degrees at master's and Ph.D. level.

Civil engineering offers unparalleled opportunities to work overseas. By becoming professionally qualified, you will be able to enter the international workplace and work abroad for a short or long term. Today, the world is undergoing vast changes-the technological revolution, population growth, environmental concerns, and more. All create unique challenges for civil engineers. The next decades will be the most creative, demanding, and rewarding times for civil engineers and now is the best time to find out if civil engineering at Chilkur Balaji Institute of Technology is the right career for you.

How the department of civil engineering, fulfills the requirement of a civil engineer?

The department of civil engineering, Chilkur Balaji Institute of Technology fulfills the requirement of acquisition of various skills by well designed curriculum, well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty and staff, well equipped infrastructure like laboratories, and effective teaching learning process. The department of civil engineering, Chilkur Balaji Institute of Technology fulfills the requirement of equipping the students for real world by blending real world problems in the curriculum and teaching some of them by experts from industry in addition to guest lectures by experts from industry and other institutions. Through the practical training, project work, industrial visit and guest lectures and exposure to software, our students are well equipped for the real world. Further, involving students in industry institute interaction, continuing education, research and consultancy and link with community programmes, they are further exposed to real world problems in civil engineering.
